Synopsis for Yoshitaka Yamaguchi’s Demekin from Toei International Sales (Toei Company Ltd./Tôei K.K.): “From an early age, Masaki Sata (Kentaro) has been bullied and called ‘demekin’ (a derogatory term comparing people with large eyes to a bulging-eyed goldfish). One day, he vows to become stronger, and uses his fists to fight back. ¶ With his trademark red pompadour haircut, Masaki eventually gets revenge against the bullies who tormented him, and develops a reputation as an unbeatable fighter. His life comes to revolve around brawling and motorbike riding alongside his best friend since elementary school, Atsunari (Yuki Yamada). ¶ After graduating from junior high, Masaki goes on to high school, while Atsunari starts working at a noodle joint. Their surroundings change, but their fiery nature doesn’t. They draw the attention of older delinquents, and every day is a flurry of fists and feet. ¶ In memory of their former bike gang boss Maki (Shintaro Yanagi) who died in an accident, Atsunari suggests to Masaki that they create a new team, one that will become the greatest in Fukuoka. They end up forming a gang of their own called ‘Aho’ (dumbass), but a cavalcade of ferocious enemies awaits them…”
